In line with process digitalisation, Austria‘s leading manufacturer of varnishes, paints and wood preservatives ADLER has implemented digital data acquisition for raw materials in the pre-commissioning area. One of Eastman's major initiatives was to improve safety within the laboratories by using a third-party application to inventory and verify that chemicals are being consumed and stored in the correct locations through barcode scanning.

Intelligent field devices offer innumerable configurable parameters. A radar level sensor, for instance, normally has more than 500 parameters which can be configured. Added to this, field devices with different protocols are used in typical process industry installations and explo-sion-proof areas.
