i.safe MOBILE celebrates its 15th anniversary

Lauda-Koenigshofen, 16 September 2026 – This month, i.safe MOBILE is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The company began as a start-up in Lauda-Koenigshofen and, over the course of a decade and a half, has developed into the global market leader for mobile communication solutions in potentially explosive atmospheres and for critical infrastructure. This ambition is underpinned by a corporate slogan that i.safe MOBILE unveiled in its anniversary year, 2026: “Pioneering Excellence”. It stands for pioneering work extending far beyond the explosion-hazard sector, combined with a commitment to the highest quality and excellence in everything the company does. The anniversary year itself demonstrates just how dynamic the company is: with the launch of its own ‘Made in Germany’ production line, i.safe MOBILE is sending a clear signal regarding quality, safety and independence.

This development has also been recognised externally, and as a result, i.safe MOBILE has been included in the “Wirtschaftswoche” ranking and the World Market Leader Index as the ‘World Market Leader Champion 2026’. The extent of this growth is evident at the headquarters itself: to meet the increasing need for space, i.safe MOBILE has expanded its headquarters in Lauda-Koenigshofen with an extension. The company is also continuing to grow internationally: with the acquisitions of Exloc Instruments Ltd (UK) and Exloc Instruments, Inc. (USA), i.safe MOBILE has systematically strengthened its market position in the UK and the US. The product portfolio is also being expanded to include new, forward-looking areas: automation in potentially explosive atmospheres and devices for critical communications, a sector that is becoming increasingly important in light of global economic developments and growing demands on critical infrastructure.

Made in Germany: quality, safety and independence

Since 2026, the Android Enterprise Silver Partner i.safe MOBILE has also been manufacturing selected devices in Germany – from development through to production and quality testing. For i.safe MOBILE, this step marks another milestone on the path to the future: customers in the critical infrastructure sector benefit from a comprehensive ‘secure-by-design’ approach that takes security into account on three levels: Within the organisation, the supply chain and the product itself. 

15 Years of Growth: From Start-up to Global Market Leader

i.safe MOBILE was founded in Lauda-Koenigshofen in 2011 by four visionaries. Martin Haaf has been with the company from the very beginning and continues to lead it today as managing director and shareholder. By its tenth anniversary, the team had already grown to 60 employees. Today, five years later, the company employs around 135 people worldwide. In 2025, i.safe MOBILE exceeded the €50 million turnover mark for the first time; for 2026, the company is planning further growth in the double-digit percentage range.

In parallel with its growth in staff numbers, i.safe MOBILE has continued to expand its international presence: this was followed by the establishment of a branch in Singapore in 2020 and expansion into Australia in 2024. With the acquisition of Exloc Instruments UK in 2025 and Exloc Instruments USA in 2026, the company is now represented on four continents with its own locations. More than 100 sales partners round out the global network.

Just recently, i.safe MOBILE was included in WirtschaftsWoche’s World Market Leader Index. The criteria for inclusion are demanding: a turnover of more than 50 million euros, an overseas share of at least 50 per cent, a presence on three continents and market leadership in its own segment. i.safe MOBILE meets all four criteria; with an export share of 87 per cent, the company significantly exceeds the minimum requirement.

“Our journey over the past 15 years shows that those who consistently follow their own course, remain focused and yet are flexible enough, develop into recognised global market leaders,” says Martin Haaf.

Innovation as a Constant

i.safe MOBILE also remains a technological pioneer in industry. As early as 2022, the company launched the first intrinsically safe 5G smartphone for hazardous areas. Shortly afterwards, the first intrinsically safe Windows tablet with 5G support marked another milestone for professional applications in potentially explosive industrial environments. In 2026, the company also launched the world’s first 450 MHz smartphone for Zone 1/21, enabling mission-critical communication in hazardous areas.

As a Google Android Enterprise Silver Partner, i.safe MOBILE has received official recognition for its high level of technical expertise, product quality and performance. This is complemented by close technological collaboration with Qualcomm.

Commitment to the location

To accommodate its ongoing growth, i.safe MOBILE has expanded its headquarters building in Lauda-Koenigshofen with a modern extension and an additional storey, thereby creating the spatial foundation for continued growth in the future. Architecturally, the extension also reflects the company’s innovative strength. Under the motto ‘We make space for new ideas and talent’, i.safe MOBILE is designing a working environment based on a contemporary ‘New Work’ concept, ranging from desk sharing and project rooms to open, flexible workspaces. This adapts to the individual needs of employees and creates the best possible working atmosphere.

i.safe MOBILE has set itself a clear goal for the coming years: not only to maintain its position as a global market leader, but to continuously build on it.
